We are a counter-culture, unpretentious neighborhood bakery and coffeeshop that provides quality-minded coffee drinks, baked goods and custom cakes that are brewed and baked fresh daily on-site from scratch. We are an old-school Austin establishment at heart, and we are fortunate to be entangled with the city’s weird and unique history. We have provided Austin locals with stellar coffee and espresso drinks as well as scratch-made baked goods for 3 decades and have amassed a small-scale ‘Cult Following’ of loyal patrons that visit us daily (and sometimes multiple times a day!)  At Quack’s, we strive to use only the highest quality, natural ingredients in our baking and we take every opportunity to avoid using artificial flavors, colors and additives wherever possible. We are excited to have you onboard and hope that you will help us continue our mission to provide our guests with out-of-this-world baked goods and espresso drinks at reasonable prices for another 35+ years!
Originally launched in 1983 on “the Drag”, directly across the street from the University of Texas, not far from where our 43rd Street location is now. We had a successful 13-year tenure on The Drag, but in 1996, we realized that to get a quality and affordable baked good to pair with our coffee offerings, we would have to do it ourselves. Behold, the creation of Quack’s 43rd Street Bakery. Quack’s took over a shell that was once the locally-adored Hyde Park Bakery, and the neighbors wasted no time in welcoming us with open arms. We have been producing fresh, scratch-made, natural-when-possible baked goodies at this location ever since. We wanted to share our baked goods with other locally owned and operated businesses, as well as expand our orbit, and this launched our Wholesale Operation. To date, we have approximately 45 wholesale accounts, reaching nearly every corner of the Austin area.
In early 2017, we began to further our reach, breaking into the South Austin market with a large-scale expansion project - Captain Quackenbush’s Coffeehouse as well as GALACTIC HQ – a “Corporate Office”, for lack of a better word – as well as breaking into East Austin with Lady Quackenbush’s Cakery – where we create and provide wedding and celebration cakes and cookies to both long-time Quack’s customers as well as a newer generation of Austinites. We continue to grow and develop with the neighborhoods and communities we’re a part of and we plan on being in the city for a very long time to come and we hope that you decide to join our team and grow with us.
